Whether you are just coming into the college world of MTSU or preparing to finish your upper level courses and get out of here, we all have the same question…where do I go after I graduate? Having a college degree opens a variety of options for every field in our university and those options can be intimidating or maybe, you might be too confused to decide. According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, the Nashville Metropolitan Area (Murfreesboro and Franklin included) hosts the third largest rate of job growth in the United States. That is tremendous news for recent graduates and upcoming students in the region as Nashville also hosts some of the lowest unemployment rates in the country with 2.8% as well.

Still the question persists, where do I go from here? I have all these options, but it is a massive choice for me. Let me help you focus your search. If you are a student that finds yourself in the College of Nursing or the Science buildings a lot, I would consider the fact that of the top employers in the region, four of them are medical based companies, according to the Nashville Chamber of Commerce. They are:

• Vanderbilt University Medical Center - 1211 Medical Center Dr, Nashville, TN 37232
• HCA Healthcare Inc. - 1 Park Plaza, Nashville, TN 37203
• St. Thomas Health – hospitals and offices around the metro area
• Community Health Services - 4000 Meridian Blvd, Franklin, TN 37067

If you find yourself in the BAS and College of Education a fair amount, I would recommend you investigate the HQ’s and offices of the booming business sector and manufacturing offices across the metro area. They are:

• Asurion – future HQ planned for 11th Ave. and Church St.
• Bridgestone Americas - 200 4th Ave S, Nashville, TN 37201

If you are a creative student and find yourself in the confines of Todd Art Hall, in the bowels of the Bragg Building and its ever-changing name, or the School of Music I would suggest you investigate the music industry and advertising sectors of Nashville, as they often go together. They are:

I hope this quick-start guide of major corporate entities in the Nashville Metro Area is at least a jumping off-point into a new internship or post-graduate career. Nashville is an ever-growing city and with that come new opportunities that I may not be aware of or that may not even exist yet. We are graduating into a rich commercial environment with many career opportunities and for the foreseeable future that won’t seem to change according to the Nashville Chamber of Commerce. Music City and the middle Tennessee area hosts career growth in almost every sector of commercial industry and commerce and is nationally ranked in terms of positive job growth.
