Murfreesboro has become a hot spot for out-of-the-ordinary gyms that offer more than the usual workout experience.

  • Climb Murfreesboro: An indoor rock-climbing center that offers a kid zone, harness and boulder climbing, a work out room, and locker rooms.
  • Gold’s Gym: A chain of gyms that have a variety of machines, and some locations offer tanning, a sauna and classes.
  • Anytime Fitness: A new gym that has top of the line equipment and shower rooms.
  • Murfreesboro Athletic Club: Large gym that has different rooms, such as multiple cardio centers and a basketball court.
  • The Ascent: Rock climbing warehouse that has various climbing classes available.
  • Garage Barre: Casual, open minded gym that specializes in barre exercise.
  • Jumpstreet: Kid-centric entertainment center with trampolines and blow-up gyms.

Parks

Parks are an important part of the culture of Murfreesboro and bring the community together. They have become popular places for people to meet and exercise.

  • Old Fort Park: A park with walking trails, tennis courts, bathrooms, a playground, and indoor tennis courts. Hosts the annual Greenway Art Festival.
  • Barfield Crescent Park: A scenic, large park that has trails, fields, bathrooms, playgrounds, a nature station, golf course, and frisbee golf course.
  • Greenway: A paved popular trail that weaves along the Stones River and a large part of Murfreesboro and even stretches to other cities. It is a part of many trailheads, playgrounds, bathrooms and a dog park.
  • Stones River Battlefield: Historical, scenic trail that tours important local areas of Civil War battles. Has a small information center.
  • Gateway Island: Small, new park with walking trails, bathrooms, and a man-made lake with ducks and geese.
